Rita Bout's Seattle 3Day PledgePage
Dear Friends,
The weekend of August 10, 2001, I will be participating in a very special and powerful event in the fight against breast cancer. It’s called the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day and I would like to tell you about it. I will walk 60 miles from Enumclaw to Seattle, WA with 2,000 other courageous people to raise money for breast cancer. The net proceeds from the event will support non-profit breast health programs in every region of the country, and medical research on breast cancer. Programs like these are making it possible for women close to me, especially those without medical coverage to continue to receive free mammograms and yearly check ups. The Avon Products Foundation Inc. will award grants to these types of organizations. Last year, the 3-Days raised $43 MILLION !! I have agreed to raise $1,900 in pledges before July 13th! But, I need your help. Your pledge is fully tax-deductible and can be spread out over up to 10 months. Please help me meet my goal. I’ve enclosed a pledge form for you to look over and designate the amount that’s right for you. Keep in mind how far I’m walking- and how hard I will have to train between now and August. This is a very important event for me for many reasons. I am walking in memory of my Grandmother and Aunt, who died of this disease. I am also walking for the hope that nobody else I know will die. This year over 180,000 men and women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer, over 40,000 will die. That’s why I am walking so far. To do something big. I hope you’ll share this incredible adventure with me-by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. Sincerely, Rita Bout |
